The Olivier award-winning Back to the Future: The Musical has announced its first-ever relaxed performance, to take place at the Adelphi Theatre on 12 March 2023.

Having broken Adelphi’s records for the highest gross sales in one week, Back To The Future first invited west-end audiences to hop into the Delorean in 2021. Since opening, its enjoyed positive reviews from theatregoers and fans of the 1985 film.

While open to everyone, relaxed performances are designed to “benefit those who normally find it challenging to access and enjoy theatre.” This laid-back performance will include reduced volume and lighting for a more comfortable viewing experience. Audience expectations will also be less rigid, allowing visitors to move around if necessary or respond naturally to the story unfolding before them.

As audiences go back to the future, they can enjoy stellar performances from a host of west-end stars, accompanied by an exciting, rock-inspired score. Tony award-winner Roger Bart returns to the show on 5 January 2023 in the role of Dr Emmet Brown before heading overseas to lead the Broadway production in June 2023.

In addition to the relaxed performance, audiences can also attend a signed performance (2 April), an audio-described performance (23 April), and a captioned performance (14 May).

Back to the Future: The Musical joins many other productions running relaxed performances, such as The Lion King and Frozen
