The winners of the 2025 Bafta Games Awards have been revealed.
Taking home the most awards was Astro Bot, which won five awards, including Best Game Design and the night’s top honour of Best Game. After leading the nominations, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II won just one award for Technical Achievement.
Among the night’s other winners were Tales of Kenzera: Zau, which won Game Beyond Entertainment, Metaphor ReFantazio, which won Best Narrative and Thank Goodness You’re Here, which won Best British Game.
Still Wakes The Deep took both awards in the Performance categories, with Karen Dunbar (Finlay) winning Performer in a Supporting Role and Alec Newman (Caz) winning Performer in a Leading Role.
This year’s Bafta Fellowship honouree is composer Yoko Shimomura, best known for her groundbreaking work on franchises including Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy and Xenoblade Chronicles. Receiving the award from Jessica Curry (Dear Esther, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture), Shimomura said she was honoured to receive the award and how music had influenced her life in good times and bad. Shimomura also thanked those in the industry and personally who had supported her in what she calls her “dream job”.
Alongside the ceremony, Bafta held a public vote to find the most influential video game of all time. Coming out on top was Shenmue, the 1999 open world adventure, which beat out the likes of Minecraft, The Sims, Metal Gear Solid and Super Mario Bros.
