Finally, if you’re not keen on booking a flight, here’s a festival that’s a bit closer to home. Last year Latitude celebrated it’s tenth edition with another packed lineup of culture. Music enthusiasts from all over made their way to Henham Park in Southwold to watch performances from artists across numerous genres. The festival started on a high-note with an electrifying performance from Alt-J on the new Obelisk stage. This was followed by performances from big names such as Portishead and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, along with exciting performances from up and comers such as SBTRKT and Sundara Karma. Surprise appearances from Thom Yorke and Ed Sheehan kept everyone on their toes. For the eleventh edition you can expect performances from The National, The Maccabees, M83, Daughter, New Order and many more!
Unlike the festivals previously discussed, Latitude caters to a larger range of visitors, including families with small children. That being said, it might not be everyone’s cup of tea but Latitude was originally set up as “the UK’s first multi-arts boutique festival” and it continues to provide an excellent selection of music and culture-related performances. While we can make no promises about the weather, the wonderful lineup and the scenic atmosphere of Henham Park makes Latitude well worth the trip to Suffolk. Maybe you’ll get your British Summer after all.
