Sziget

Location: Budapest, Hungary

Dates: August 10-17

Price for 7 day ticket: 269 Euros (Approximately 210 GBP)

Here’s another one for those of you with the stamina to carry on for a full week of festivities. Sziget has been going on since 1993, when it began as a low-key student event- an attempt to revive the music scene in Hungary after the end of the communist era. Today, Sziget is recognised as one of Europe’s largest festivals, representing a satisfying range of genres and offering a jam-packed schedule. Sziget isn’t simply a music festival, it’s your chance to escape the real world for a week and become a “Szitizen“ and immerse yourself in music, cultural activities and good vibes. Check out the sculpture classes at the Art Zone or start your day with Yoga at the outdoor stage.

With over 1,000 performances taking place each year, Sziget will not disappoint. Last year’s hi-lights included sets from Florence and the Machine, Kings of Leon and Aviccii. This year you can look forward to more music from Rihanna, Muse, Crystal Castles, Die Antwoord, David Guetta and many more!

If the line-up hasn’t convinced you, the festival’s venue is sure to have you booking your flight to Budapest. Located in the middle of a river, Sziget has been dubbed, “the island of freedom“. Festival-goers can set up camp anywhere on the premises, soak up the sun on the island’s rocky shoreline and take a dip in the Danube at Sziget beach.

With a 7-day ticket costing around 210 GBP, Sziget is the perfect summer getaway. It’s a great opportunity to experience music and culture in an extraordinary festival setting.
