March 5th was a big day for indie-rock lovers as alt-J announced album three RELAXER, which is set to be released in all formats on June 9th. The four piece from Leeds, undoubtedly riding high after the astronomical success of Mercury Prize and Ivor Nevello winning album An Awesome Wave and Grammy award winning This Is All Yours, took to London for this record; recording all across the capital, from Shoreditch to Brixton. The band have stuck loyally to producer Charlie Andrew for the third time, and the results are sure to be brilliant. With over two million copies of their previous albums already sold, along with a staggering one billion streams; we need only accept the best from the group once again.
alt – J premiered this album announcement with the release of first track ‘3WW’, a Radiohead-esque tune with dreamy, calming melodies, offering explanation for the album title, and it only excites us for the other seven tracks to come in June. As far as touring goes, they have announced a return to the O2 Arena in London for a one-off show on June 16th to celebrate the venue’s 10th anniversary, as well as to showcase some new album tracks. Tickets go on sale Friday 10th March, and there also many European festival appearances to look forward to and fans should be visiting here to check on announcements. 2017 is sure to be alt-J’s year.
