TiMi Studio Group and World’s Edge have announced details behind Age of Empires Mobile which is set to be released later this year.

Developed by TiMi Studio Group, the masterminds behind Call of Duty Mobile and Pokemon Unite, and Xbox Games Studio World’s Edge, the pair aim to bring the battlefield to players anytime and anywhere with optimised controls.

The game offers a blend of familiar elements from the classic PC series, such as fast-paced combat, base-building and real-time strategy gameplay.

Earnest Yuen, Senior Director of Production at World’s Edge said: “We’re excited for even more players around the world to experience the magic of Age of Empires with the upcoming launch of Age of Empires Mobile.

“Combining the strategy games expertise and rich heritage of World’s Edge with TiMi’s excellence in mobile gaming. We’re building a brand-new way for players around the world to join the Age of Empires universe.”

The free-to-play game offers an array of ways to go to battle, whether that be uniting global players through the multiplayer mode or fighting foes online.

Players will also be able to build their teams with over 40 historical and legendary leaders such as King Arthur, Joan of Arc, Julius Caesar, Leonidas I, and the Queen of Sheba. Each leader has their own talents, allowing a multitude of outcomes during PvP and PvE play.

Players wishing to go on a lonesome battle can choose to build and expand an empire independently via base building and resource gathering.

Brayden Fan, a general manager at TiMi Studio Group said: “We grew up playing Age of Empires on our PCs and believe we can offer a new but similarly exciting experience for mobile players with Age of Empires Mobile.”

This isn’t Microsoft’s first attempt at bringing the universe to mobile devices with their 2015 release of Age of Empires: World Domination however, it was shut down in November 2016.

Although there is no official release date from the developers, the iOS App Store states that the game should be released on 19 August.

To top it all off, Age of Empires Mobile teased on X that players who pre-register the game access a reward via their website.

Anyone looking to play can strategise ahead of its release and pre-register on the App Store or Google Play.
