Kanye West – Glastonbury

Kanye West is easily one of the contenders for festival booking of the year and it’s extremely fitting that one of the biggest stars in world music play on one of the biggest stages in world music, too. Glastonbury have booked the biggest rapper in the world and it’s their riskiest booking in years but one that I just can’t see backfiring on them. The petition to get him off the bill hit over 100,000 virtual signatures (most of whom have never been to Glastonbury), but even before he’s stepped foot onto Worthy Farm, the world is talking about him.

Love him or hate him – he wouldn’t care either way – he is a true performer. He may have the one of the biggest egos the musical world has ever seen, and he may come out with some odd shit every now and then but this man has hits crammed up his sleeves. Tracks like ‘Black Skinhead’, ‘Diamonds of Sierra Leone’ and ‘Gold Digger’ are all guaranteed run outs, but will like we did at the Brits, will we see some of Britain’s biggest grime scene stars come out out for new track ‘All Day’?  Or maybe even Yeezy’s bezzie mate Jay Z might walk out for a few Watch The Throne tracks? This uncertainty is the beauty of Kanye West, you simply don’t know what to expect, and that’s exactly what you want in a performer. Whatever he does, this will be an unmissable set. Whether you’re watching from the back or front of the Pyramid Field or sitting comfortably at home, Kanye West is guaranteed to blow you away.
