Jamie xx – Reading & Leeds Festivals
It’s almost impossible to find a more talked about producer so far this year than Jamie xx. Debut album, In Colour, contains the sounds of underground dance gatherings as they rise and fade through the coolly hypnotic and spacey trance-pop, to the pulsating strobe light techno. Playing the Radio 1/ NME tent at Reading & Leeds Festivals, the producer and DJ is guaranteed to play to a packed out crowd, exuberant at the thought of hearing summer anthem ‘Loud Places’ rip through the tent and out into the sunshine.
Jamie’s combination of elements and diversity portray his eager exploration of his catalogue of inspirations, all which are incredibly engaging. Jamie xx isn’t just any other standard house music DJ, his unique style and approach produces some intriguingly useful parts for his own intimate style of electronica. The scale and size the stage that Jamie is playing may come as a surprise to even himself, but is he capable of it? Of course he is.
