The absurd physical comedy, Slow Violence, will be returning to London’s Pleasance Theatre next month.

It’s Peter’s induction at the neglected Happy Holiday’s office, where he’s finding that working life isn’t quite what he was expecting. The roof is leaking, the printer is on fire, the office is dangerously hot, and no one else seems to have noticed. Being stuck with his highly enthusiastic and overbearing co-worker Claire doesn’t help either. Will they be able to fix their office before everything falls apart completely?

Through the pair’s deteriorating working relationship and the farcical crumbling of their office, Slow Violence explores the apathy and inaction surrounding climate breakdown, sparking timely conversations about global warming.

The play will star creators and performers Laura Ryder and Harry Kingscott, with Rafia Hussain as producer, set and costume design by Maria Terry, lighting design by Pete Rickards, and Ivan Stott as composer and sound designer.

Of the play, Ryder noted that, “in the same vein that Claire and Peter can’t continue to deny the fact that their office is falling apart, nor can we keep pretending the world is not endangered. Whilst so much narrative around the climate emergency focuses on fear, our storytelling avoids doomy narratives and looks to give people a sense of empowerment by provoking conversation and creating ideas of community and connection.”

Slow Violence will premiere at Pleasance Theatre on Tuesday 21 March, and run until Saturday 25 March.
