A Little Night Music

The full casting for Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music at Leeds Playhouse has been announced.

The show will feature Stephanie Corley and Quirijn de Lang in the leading roles of Desiree Armfeldt and Frederik Egerman. The pair have previously performed in the roles of Fred and Lilli in Opera North’s production of Kiss Me Kate.

Josephine Barlow will play Madam Armfeldt, Desiree’s mother. Laurence Kilsby will play Henrik Egerman, Fredrik’s son, while Corinne Cowling will play Anne Egerman, Fredrik’s wife.

The role of Petra, Anne’s maid, will be played by Amy J Payne, while Christopher Nairne and Helen Évora will play Count and Countess Malcolm.

Gillene Butterfield and Miranda Bevin have been cast in the role of Mrs Nordstrom, and Molly Barker and Amy Freston will play Mrs Segstrom.

The performance is a collaboration between Leeds Playhouse and Opera North, and will be directed by James Brining, the playhouse’s Artistic Director.

James Holmes is set to conduct, while sound will be by Seb Frost. There will also be set and costume design by Madeleine Boyd, lighting by Chris Davey, and choreography by Lucy Hind.

The musical follows multiple couple’s love lives, and takes inspiration from the film Smiles of a Summer Night by Ingmar Bergman.

A Little Night Music will run from 26 June to 17 July. Tickets can be purchased from the Leeds Playhouse website.
