Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre have announced the launching of a new community space alongside a small studio theatre.

These will host local groups, rehearsals and studio size productions in addition to their main space. Hope Mill are also setting up a theatre school aiming to train and work with young people in the community.

The community space is right next to the Hope Mill Theatre on Pollard Street. This venue will consist of both a large and small studio space. The former will be used for community gatherings, dance classes, rehearsals and will also double as a 40-50-seat studio space at certain times. There will also be a particular focus on hosting new work including the development of new musicals. Meanwhile the smaller space will be for auditions and singing lessons.

The Hope Mill Theatre School will launch in June 2021 ready for its first summer term. In the lead up to this, two free trial weekends will take place during May half-term.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the theatre school will only be able to launch at half capacity. The school will provide training for young people aged 7 to 18 as well as offer an early learning class for children aged 4 to 6.

Home Mill Theatre will also be hosting online classes called ‘Clever Clogs’ for ages 2–4 and their grown-ups in the upcoming month. Sessions will take place weekly focusing on song, storytelling and movement.

Tickets will be available to book on Hope Mill’s website.
