Just in time for Valentines Day, Taylor Swift has announced she is dropping a re-recorded version of her country hit ‘Love Story’ on Friday 12th February 2021. The new single is titled ‘Love Story (Taylor’s Version)’ and will be followed by a full rerecording of Swift’s second studio album Fearless

Making the announcement on Good Morning America, Swift said “I’m so excited to share with you that tonight at midnight, I’ll be putting out my version of my song, ‘Love Story’, which was originally on my album Fearless”

The singer gave fans even more to get excited about, revealing that the new Fearless album will have a track list of 26 songs, including six “songs from the vault”. She said, “I’ve gone back and rerecorded those so that everyone will be able to hear not only the songs that made the album but also the songs that almost made it, the full picture”.

Fans were offered a sneak peak of the re-recording of ‘Love Story’ in December 2020, the same month Swift released her ninth studio album evermore. The new single was featured in a match.com advert made by friend Ryan Reynolds.

And it appears that fans do not have long to wait. Accompanying new album art for Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Swift posted a note on twitter which seemed to include a secret message. When put together, the capitalised letters in the otherwise lowercase text spell out ‘April Ninth’. Many Swifties now believe that the full rerecorded Fearless album will drop on Friday 9th April 2021.

Swift began rerecording her early music after the masters to her first six albums were acquired by Scooter Braun in 2019 without her consent. Following the exchange, she told GMA “I just think that artists deserve to own their own work”.

On a mission to own the masters to her entire catalogue, she began the rerecording process in November 2020. Swift owns the masters to her most recent albums, Lover, folklore and evermore, released with Republic Records and Universal Music Group.
