With the eagerly anticipated Assassin’s Creed film due to begin filming this week, fans were given a first look at lead Michael Fassbender’s character along with some more details about the film.
The film sees Fassbender take on the role of Callum Lynch, a new character in the franchise. As well as the first image of the character, there’s also been confirmation of the film’s primary plotline:
“Lynch discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day”
The film will see Fassbender reunite with his co star and director from the upcoming Macbeth, Marion Cotillard and Justin Kurzel, and they will be joined by Michael Kenneth Williams (>12 Years A Slave) and Ariane Labed (The Lobster) in the film, which will film in Malta, Spain and the UK.
Assassin’s Creedis scheduled to be released December 2016.
