The West End phenomenon Les Misérables intends to be back on stage from the 29th of May 2021.
The team behind Cameron Mackintosh’s new production are hoping that the theatre will not be required to observe social distancing. This would allow for a full audience to watch the show.
This full scale return of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg’s stage epic comes following the current production run which began in 2019. It is currently on hold at the Sondheim Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue, due to the coronavirus restrictions put in place across London.
A full cast and crew list for the new production is yet to be confirmed. However, it is believed that Jon Robyns will be returning to the role of Jean Valjean.
Les Misérables is directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell, designed by Matt Kinley and inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo. The musical staging is by Michael Ashcroft and Geoffrey Garratt, with music supervision by Stephen Brooker and Alfonso Casado Trigo.
The new show will go on public sale on the 2nd of December, with tickets available from the show’s website.
