Miranda Hart is returning to BBC One, to host a one-off Christmas special.
The show titled Miranda’s Games With Showbiz Names has been described as being “full of merriment and mayhem” and will feature as part of BBC One’s festive schedule.
The show, running for half an hour, will feature three celebrity couples competing in a number of fun festive games from the comfort of their own homes. The show follows the format of the American TV show, Celebrity Game Face, and the celebrity guests will include the likes of Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas and singer Robbie Williams.
For the show’s format, producers have explained that,
“Three celebrity couples join her from the comfort of their own homes to compete in a series of riotous Christmas games. An expert in the art of homemade mischief, Miranda will lead the celebrity players through a host of outrageous challenges, bringing out their silly sides and competitive spirit for a Christmas games night like no other.”
Upon the announcement of the BBC’s festive programming, Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore said,
“It’s never felt more important to help bring the country together to share, to laugh and to celebrate the festive season on the BBC. Lets face it, it’s been a difficult year, unlike any other, so we’ve pulled out all the stops this Christmas to keep people entertained and bring comfort and joy when we need it most, with a range of unmissable programmes across our channels and BBC iPlayer.”
Miranda previously returned to our screens for Miranda: My Such Fun Celebration which celebrated the ten-year anniversary of her award-winning sitcom Miranda, where she was joined by Patricia Hodge, Sarah Hadland, Sally Phillips, and on-screen husband Tom Ellis. This also isn’t the first time Miranda Hart is hosting a Christmas special after she brought us a Channel 4 special of Miranda Does Christmas.
Miranda’s Games With Showbiz Names will be on at the end of the year as part of the BBC’s festive line-up and will sit alongside the Call The Midwife, Strictly Come Dancing, and Doctor Who specials.
