We’re going back to the theatres with Back to the Future! It’s true – the musical, based on the 1985 blockbuster and pop culture phenomenon is coming back for its second run on the stage after the pandemic cut it short back in March.

While London’s West End theatres currently remain closed due to COVID-19, we can look forward to returning to the Adelphi Theatre in May next year for a production filled with singing, dancing, high speeds and lightning storms and of course, eighties hits that will get our toes tapping. If only we had our very own DeLorean to get us there quicker.

Starring Olly Dobson as skate-board riding, time-travelling Marty McFly and Roger Bart as the iconic inventor Doc Brown; the musical is based on the book by Bob Gale with music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard. The production will also include classic songs such as ‘Johnny B Goode’ from the hit movie. Christopher Lloyd who, starred as Doc in the film stated “I’ve already heard some of the new songs and met many of the cast members, particularly Roger Bart who plays Doc, so I’m confident the stage version will be exactly what our fans have been hoping for.”

Based on the show’s previous run at Manchester Opera House, the production has a reputation of using incredible stagecraft to replicate the special effects that define the film. This is supported by Gale who said the production, directed by John Rando, has “groundbreaking stagecraft, which we firmly believe raises the bar for production design and illusion. You will be convinced that the DeLorean really does go 88 miles per hour.” If the calculations are correct, when this hits theatres on the 14 May, we’re bound to see something delirious.

Priority access tickets went on sale on the 10th September and there’s still chance to get yourself a seat at the Adelphi Theatre to watch McFly and Doc have the adventure of a lifetime. Don’t need money, don’t take fame…just need a theatre ticket with my name!
