Producer and artist KAYTRANADA has released an instrumental version of his critically acclaimed 2019 album BUBBA. The LP was praised for its collaborative efforts, with the likes of Pharrell Williams, Estelle, Tinashe, Kali Uchis and more featuring on the original record. However, this time around we get to experience KAYTRANADA’s exquisite fusion of hip hop and dance beats without any vocal distractions.

KAYTRANADA had revealed his plans to release the instrumental album on Twitter way back in February, but took fans by surprise when he released it on Friday, 4th September. The original album already included instrumental tracks including ‘Puff Lah’, which had its own minimalist music video released in December last year.

BUBBA was praised by critics, making the Short List for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize. KAYTRANADA is no stranger to the Polaris Prize as he was awarded it for his debut album 99.9% in 2016.

This isn’t the first time the artist has treated his fans to instrumental versions of his tracks, but it is the first fully instrumental album. Now a master at his craft, KAYTRANADA wants listeners to experience his work in all it’s glory. This alternative is the perfect in the background on a busy working day or for when you really want to appreciate the outstanding musicianship and production.

The artist had plans for a U.S tour at the beginning of this year, which was postponed until further notice due to the coronavirus. Since then he has kept his fans pleased with new releases and music videos. The video for ‘Needed It’ featuring Masego and directed by Andre Bato was released in April.
