After the COVID-19-enforced downtime, Adam Driver looks to be competing for the busiest actor title with yet another project added to his forthcoming slate of work.
Driver, 36, is set to star in 65 which will be written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, writers of A Quiet Place. The movie will be produced by Sam Raimi and come from the Sony Pictures’ stable.
At this stage, little is known about the plot of 65, with some sources suggesting it will be a sci-fi thriller, whilst others refer to a horror thriller.
Driver’s stock is high, coming on the back of a successful 2019. The versatile actor bade farewell to the character of Kylo Ren in the final film of the most recent Star Wars trilogy. He starred in Amazon Studios’ The Report and received a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his role in Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story. In the latter, Driver starred opposite Scarlett Johansson (The Avengers) as a theatre director going through a divorce from his actress wife.
The immediate future looks no less busy for the actor. After the worldwide pandemic ceased production, filming has now restarted on The Last Duel , a Ridley Scott-directed historical drama-thriller. Driver is acting alongside Matt Damon (Bourne series) and Jodie Comer (Killing Eve). It is rumoured that Driver is in talks to star in another Ridley Scott production, Gucci, opposite Lady Gaga (A Star is Born).
65 is one of those projects with plenty to whet the appetite, despite the sparsity of information. A Quiet Place was critically exclaimed, with Becks and Woods receiving a number of writing award nominations, including the Writer’s Guild of America awards. Raimi is primarily known for the Evil Dead franchise and directing duties on the Tobey Maguire Spiderman trilogy. With the addition of Adam Driver, who is known for picking his roles carefully, expectations for 65 will be high.
