Niantic has announced that two raid tiers will be removed from Pokemon Go.
Announcing the news on the Niantic Support Twitter account, both 2-Star and 4-Star raids will be taken out of the game in a future update, with the Pokemon in those tiers being added to the 1-Star and 3-Star tiers.
This shift will simplify the raid system and reduce the number of raid tiers to four. 1-Star and 3-Star will be altered to add in new Pokemon, while 5-Star and Mega Raids for now remain unchanged. Niantic has promised to release more information on the changes to the raid system prior to its release.
The news comes as Pokemon Go prepares to add Mega Evolutions to the game to tie into Mega Raids. Using Mega Energy gained in Mega Raids, players will be able to Mega Evolve their Pokemon to boost their stats and provides future bonuses in other raids.
Pokemon Go is available now on iOS and Android.
