Gaming News: Gamescom 2015 – Microsoft Briefing

Kicking off proceedings at Gamescom in Cologne this year was Microsoft. Coming off the success of their E3 presentation , expectations were high going into today as fans around the world tuned in to see what Phil Spencer and his team would bring. With Nintendo and Sony both scaling back their own presence at the event, this was Microsoft’s chance to capitalise.


 

Out of Time

In the first new title shown at the briefing, there is time stopping, melee combat, fire fights, experiments gone wrong, death and a few familiar faces. Quantum Break stars Shawn Ashmore (X-Men), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones) and Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of The Rings) as Jack Joyce, Paul Serene and William Joyce respectively, three men caught in the middle of this epic story. After an experiment goes wrong, Jack and Paul – along with Beth Wilder (Courtney Hope) – end up with the ability to manipulate time. It’s up to Jack and Beth to find out what went wrong while trying to stop William from being killed and also stopping Paul from killing them all.

To tie in with this game, Remedy games also announced that there will be a live action digital series – staring the game cast – that will be informed and adapt to player’s choices and journey through the game. The series in currently in development for a 2016 début with the game but there was a short teaser trailer with Gillen and Ashmore to whet the audiences appetite for this ambitious project.
