‘Reign’ is a haunting and unconventional single by Prinzhorn Dance School, a post punk duo from Brighton. The agonising lyrics “do you feel lonely / do you feel blue / our reign too” capture a sense of futility and hopelessness a common yet distinct feature of Prinzhorn Dance School’s former albums. This track is perhaps the most upbeat of Prinzhorn Dance School’s new album Home Economics; its plunging bass, mid-tempo drums and weeping guitar creating an ideal platform for Tobin Prinz’ vocals which defy trends and seem to musically mourn.
The duo’s musical arrangement portrays endless rhymic repetition and their tight, minimal sound is what makes ‘Reign’ a track to remember and to appreciate. This deep, dark floor-filler is definitely one for Prinzhorn Dance School to be proud of.
