It has been announced that Dear Evan Hansen will not return to the West End until 2021.

Even though the Government is beginning to release the lockdown rules surrounding indoor theatre performances, it has been confirmed that the production of Dear Evan Hansen will not return until 2021.

Producers hope they will be able to open the doors of the Noel Coward Theatre as soon as it is “practical” to do so, whilst taking into consideration the government guildlines and rules surrounding social distancing.

The award winning production tells the story of Evan, a teenager with social anxiety who fakes a series of letters to gain popularity amongst his classmates.

The show made it’s debut on the West End in November 2019 with Sam Tutty (Evan Hansen), Rebecca McKinnis (Heidi Hansen), Lauren Ward (Cynthia Murphy) and Lucy Anderson (Zoe Murphy), playing the roles of Evan, his classmates and their parents.

This announcement comes off the back of the confirmation that Hamilton and Les Miserables, both produced by Cameron Mackintosh, also will not open until next year.
