With instantly recognisable vocals, Brandon Flowers has already developed a reputation across the world through his work with The Killers. ‘Can’t Deny My Love’ is without a doubt the single from his upcoming album that has stood out the most amongst fans, with over 2 million Spotify listens in less than two months (although I wouldn’t be surprised if at least 70% of those listens were by me).
The mood of the song differs from the album’s other releases, with a noticeably more intense theme and musical arrangement. In the verses, Flowers’ voice echoes – working in tandem with the haunting drone of synth and pounding drum beat. The chorus, with each line preceded by piercing guitar – similar to Coldplay’s ‘Major Minus’ – is anthemic. The man certainly loves a nice female choir to accompany him.
As always, Flowers has really showcased his songwriting talents. His solo endeavours are certainly an exciting prospect.
