Song of the Week (13th July): Babylon // Fleets

Fleets are a 4-piece from Nottingham that play a mix of indie, punk, funk and garage music. While this may sound messy, it does come together very well in this track named ‘Babylon’. The song is about uncertainty and waiting on something. It’s soft, yet somehow forceful and pushy, moving forward nervously through spritzing guitar and plucked bass.

The song is driven by the bass and the guitar, moving the song along at its relaxed pace. The vibe that the song gives off has a hippy feel to it, rather like -and I mean this in the nicest way possible – something that you would hear being played in an old episode of Scooby Doo.

‘Babylon’ shows that Fleets have a lot of promise and are definitely worth keeping an eye on, which is exactly why we’ve made it our song of the week.
