Synopsis: Adele leads a typical teenage life: she goes to school, she reads a lot, and she gossips with her friends about boys. Upon meeting Emma – an older art student with electric blue hair – however, she begins to question her sexuality, which in turn leads her on a life-changing path to discovering true desire and passion as she matures into womanhood. This graphic yet beautifully intimate coming-of-age story will rip at your heart as you become a fly-on-the-wall to the introverted Adele and her roller-coaster of a relationship with the fiery Emma. A brilliantly subtle screenplay combined with two of the most emotionally raw performances in cinema ensures that this powerful drama will have you completely under its spell from beginning to end.
Watch if you liked: Weekend, Young and Beautiful, Frances Ha

Rating: 10/10 – A true masterpiece that magnificently captures the exhilaration – and ultimate heartbreak – of a first love.
