The first of five planned Marvel shows on Netflix, Marvel’s Daredevil debuted it’s first full length trailer. Charlie Cox (Boardwalk Empire, Stardust) plays the ‘Man Without Fear’, Matt Murdock in the new 13 part series.
Using senses heightened by the radioactive material that blinded him as a child, Murdock first donned his mask to seek vengeance against those who killed his father. Now he keeps the mask in order to fight for justice in the shadows as a vigilante, against those that he cannot fight in the role he has as a lawyer.
Also joining Cox are Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood) as Karen Page, Elden Henson (Hunger Games) as Foggy Nelson, Rosario Dawson (Sin City) as Claire Temple and Vincent D’Onofrio (The Judge) as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
We were promised a darker feel than the 2003 movie adaptation and the trailer seems to deliver on this. We see both sides of Murdock’s life in Hell’s Kitchen and he is a man divided – the lawyer and the vigilante – a man who knows what he’s doing isn’t right but what is necessary to ensure that his home is safe.
“I’m not seeking forgiveness for what I’ve done, Father. I’m asking forgiveness…for what I’m about to do.”
