Track Review: Manning Hill // Chastity

Chastity, who hail from Whitby, Ontario, have newly released a short, yet oddly stimulating video to accompany their track ‘Manning Hill’. The track as a whole hosts a very angsty, ‘rebellious teen from the 90s’ feel that’s conveyed throughout. ‘Manning Hill’ kicks off with an immediate attack of hardcore drumming and bursts of electric guitar riffs. It’s a pretty intense and hard-hitting track, with this energy rush being carried entirely throughout – not one to be listened to lightly.

The video itself follows a bunch of suburban teens in the midst of their rebellious and grunge phase. With this you’d surely expect the mass use of skateboards and Ollie tricks, with teens in Tumblr-style tennis skirts and denim jackets, and this is exactly what you get. The simple concept for this video surely works; front-man Brandon Williams stated the video was “made for practically nothing”, and this simplistic and laid-back style adds to the feel of rebellion and 90s teenage lifestyle. This track completely tears up the stereotype associated with small Canadian towns and demonstrate the edge Chastity have gained.

Whether you enjoy a more hardcore grunge air to your music or not, checking out this pretty boisterous track is a must.
