Track Review: Gently // Pretoria

Pretoria are influenced by the likes of Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Oasis. Vocalist/bassist Rob Gullet and guitarist Josh Bilisko bonded over a love of Nirvana. Once drummer Ben Dewitt was drafted in, the band started writing original material.

The band’s recent song ‘Gently’ is stunning. It’s very laid back, with the melancholic guitars working very well with the laid back vocal delivery. The track is about a relationship disintegrating, with Rob singing: “I’m a long way from accepting why we can’t have a happy ending.” The relaxing vocal delivery coupled with some accomplished drumming is a blissful experience, taking the lister on a relaxing journey.

It is refreshing how talented Pretoria are, with lyrics that people can relate to combined with their tranquil indie rock. ‘Gently’ is a beautiful track, so keep your eyes peeled for news from Pretoria because they’ve got the potential to be massive.
