Gripping and visually stunning, the second trailer for Tom Harper’s biographical film The Aeronauts dropped last week. Set in 1862, Academy Award-winning Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl) takes on the role of James Glaisher, the strong-willed, revolutionary balloonist. Reuniting after their exceptional performance in The Theory of Everything, Felicity Jones (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) joins Redmayne as the aeronaut’s fictional co-pilot, Amelia Wren.

To take us up into the clouds is the main goal of the film, but when we’re introduced to Glaisher it’s obvious that this is a man who will stop at nothing in the name of science as he demands funding and for his expedition to be taken seriously. “Find another madman to get into a balloon with,” one colleague rudely suggests, but his will has never been stronger and he does just that.

If you love the English countryside, then no doubt this is a film for you. The shots of both the land and the clouds are beautiful, but don’t get the wrong idea – it’s far from peaceful. Heavy storms and a few mechanical difficulties leave the pilots fighting for their lives thousands of feet in the air.

The Aeronauts will be released in UK cinemas on November 4th and debut on Amazon Prime worldwide on December 20th.
