Unsigned south London quartet The Half Light are back with a fresh new line-up since releasing their latest EP back in 2015. The band, composed of James Rogers on guitar and vocals, Guy Chapman also on guitar, Martin Sherbish behind the drums and bassist Mike Taylor, create upbeat indie rock with a strong influence from The Cure and The Smiths easily identifiable on their recordings.
Despite its Russian-inspired title, ‘Moscow’ is four and a half minutes of unmistakably British indie, fine tuned by My Bloody Valentine producer Darren Lawson. “I will see you in Moscow / I will greet you with arms spread wide,” sings Rogers in a vintage style that wouldn’t sound out of place on a track from the late 80s or early 90s.
Preceding latest single ‘8th May’, ‘Moscow’ is catchy, no nonsense indie rock making The Half Light 2.0’s return better and more polished than ever.
