Title: The World’s End

Starring: Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan and Rosamund Pike

The third film in the so called “Cornetto Trilogy” sees Simon Pegg star as Gary King, who is trying to reunite with his friends Steven (Considine), Oliver (Freeman), Peter (Marsan) and Andy (Frost) so they can have another attempt at “The Golden Mile” – a pub crawl in their home town which they tried as teenagers (and failed). Although the others are reluctant to go, they are eventually brought round by the idea of reconnecting with each other. When they arrive in Newton Haven they soon discover it’s not quite the place they remember.

Away from the sci-fi and action of the film – which sees Frost takes centre stage in one brilliantly choreographed sequence – this is a film about reconnection. Friends with each other, adults with their past and one man with himself. It is funny, heart-warming, action packed and a little bit daft all at once. Just the right combination in a film that mixes Hollywood with the Home Counties.

Watch if You Liked: Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Attack The Block and The Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy.

Rating: 9/10. The Cornetto Trilogy ends in spectacular style with another cult classic.
