‘Lead Me Into The Dark’, the latest release from Essex five-piece Jacksons Warehouse, is an 8 minute epic of shadowy indie rock, similar to something you might hear from Cage the Elephant. Opening darkly with an excerpt from Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, the fuzzy recording is mixed with strong drums and murky guitars to create a haunting track that reflects their Facebook post describing it as “about death and secrets, TV and media bullshit”.

Stuart Brown’s muffled vocals give the song a grungy feel, and there are some really great moments as the song builds over the repetition of “Lead me into the dark / Come bless my children”. The main issue is simply that it drags a little; past the 5 minute mark, it feels slightly aimless and so could definitely be shorter. Overall, though thenovaclinic, ‘Lead Me Into The Dark’ shows a lot of potential for the band, and we’re looking forward to seeing where they go from here.

You can check out some of the band’s other tracks on Soundcloud.
