Track Review: Sort of Dark // GOLDING

The latest track from the Brighton- based GOLDING, self-described ‘high school sweethearts’, could be the musical love child of an Oscar Wilde, Morrissey and David Bowie ménage à trois. This single is the embodiment of the ‘‘new sort of dark’’ referenced in the title, and is laden with melancholy lyricism and shoegazey melodies appropriately. ‘Sort of Dark’ sonically soothes the angst ridden soul, and is perhaps best enjoyed if consumed following a misunderstanding with a partner or friend.

Following the release of the Diva EP in 2014, this single sees GOLDING build upon their repertoire of energetic musical madness. Not your conventional indie pop band, this quartet looks set for great things following their supporting slot on The Orwells’ UK tour last year. They may be exploring ‘’that new sort of dark’’, but GOLDING are also emerging as one of the brightest new unsigned bands to appear on the scene.
