Minneapolis-based indie trio Strange Names recently released their new track, ‘Ricochet’, set to feature on their upcoming album Use Your Time Wisely, which is due out in May. Their music can be described as upbeat and feel-good, this particular song reminiscent of something from Circa Waves.

The track starts with a funky bass line and some jangly guitar noises, then the vocals comes in calmly: “you’ve got me flying, styling on the freeway / you’ve got me jumping, judging by the ricochet” we hear during the chorus. The bridge sees the band start to use some keyboard sounds and guitar effects which sound very Foals-esque; this change in the song keeps it interesting, and makes the return of the chorus even more exciting.

Strange Names are certainly a band to look out for – you can keep up to date with their music by following them on Twitter or liking them on Facebook.
