A look at Truck Festival 2016

Truck Festival is a small and independent festival which was founded by the Bennett family in 1998. On July 15th, hoards of people will be piling into Hill Farm for a three day festival of their favourite bands. The festival will be featuring some of the most popular names in the small-scale music industry, such as Rat Boy and Everything Everything.

March 30th brought the reveal of the last headliners – Irish four piece, Kodaline, completing the headlining trio with Catfish and the Bottlemen and Manic Street Preachers. All three of these bands took the UK festival scene by a storm last summer, featuring at a variety of venues such as Reading & Leeds Festival and Latitude Festival – they’re sure to please the overly zealous crowd. These three British rock bands will have their work cut out to top The Charlatans, Basement Jaxx and Clean Bandit (2015’s storming headliners). Despite this, we have no doubt that this year’s festival will be just as, if not more, spectacular than last year’s show.

Across the seven stages on site, more of our favourite bands will be playing music amongst a variety of tempos, volume and heaviness. Pop-punkers, Neck Deep, will be making an appearance for those of you who fancy diving headfirst into a pit.

Alternatively, Eliza and the Bear will also be performing, in addition to Jack Savoretti. Jurassic 5, part of the 90s rap scene, will be performing alongside former Eel Pie Island residents, Mystery Jets. Liverpudlian band, Circa Waves, will be traveling down in the t-shirt weather (see what I did there?), as will N Double A’s, Big Narstie.

The festival set itself has been granted the promise to up it’s game this year. Previously the festival has only spanned over two days; this year, they’ll get to party for another day. Truck Festival 2016 will also be welcoming the arrival of more attendees onto the site. Not only this, but tickets have only been raised to £86.50 for a standard weekend (only £7 for an entirely new day of music), making it one the cheapest festival tickets this summer.

With an 18 year legacy behind it, Truck Festival has hosted some memorable names, such as Peace, Two Door Cinema Club and Kids in Glass Houses. This year’s line-up however, is equally as impressive.
