The date has been officially confirmed following an earlier leak of the game’s ad campaign.

Blizzard Entertainment have confirmed the release date of their upcoming title Overwatch. Following an earlier leak of the game’s ad campaign, the publisher have confirmed the game will be released on May 24, 2016.

As well as confirming the date, Blizzard confirmed details of the game’s two-step beta. Players who pre-order the game will be granted early access to the beta, which runs from May 5-9, two days before other players.

Additionally, details of two special editions of the game were confirmed. Overwatch: Origins Edition will feature Overwatch related content that pays homage to other Blizzard titles, such a World of Warcraft Baby Winston pet. It will also include five hero skins based on characters from past stories such as Strike-Commander Morrison from Soldier: 76.

Meanwhile, the retail only, limited Overwatch: Collectors Edition will include all the content from the Origins Edition, a source-book, a copy of the game’s soundtrack and a statue of Jack Morrison in his Soldier: 76 alter-ego.

Overwatch will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC from May 24. Watch a trailer below.
