With fans waiting to hear news about the Switch Successor Console, Nintendo has announced Alarmo, a new clock featuring Mario and other Nintendo characters.

Nintendo unveiled the Alarmo with a new trailer on its various social media platforms. The clock seemingly doesn’t connect to any games for the Switch but rather is a simple alarm clock that will wake you up using music and sound effects from five games: Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 3, Pikmin 4, and Ring Fit Adventure.

According to the trailer, Alarmo will react to different motions you make when getting up in the morning. Actions like turning in bed or rising out of your sheets will trigger different music and sound effects from each game, like the iconic coin-collecting sounds of Mario. As you lie in bed longer, the music gradually becomes more intense, encouraging you to finally get up and turn it off.

Additionally, the clock will be able to monitor the user’s body movements and heartbeat as they sleep and upload this data to your Nintendo account via an internet connection.

The Alarmo is now available for purchase on the official My Nintendo Online Store but only for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Nintendo confirmed that the clock will be sold in other stores starting mid-January of next year.

The Alarmo costs £89.99 ($99.99/¥20,000) and does not come with an AC adapter. It can use a Nintendo Switch USB-C AC adapter, however.

With many Nintendo fans anticipating the successor to the Nintendo Switch, the announcement of the Alarmo has seen mixed reactions.

Some users have reacted negatively due to the lack of news on the new console and the high price of the alarm clock. Others have found the announcement humorous, saying that unveiling a quirky gadget out of nowhere when people are expecting their big new console is a very Nintendo thing to do.
