The Lord of the Rings-themed cosy game Tales of the Shire will be delayed until early 2025 its developer has announced.
Tales of the Shire is a cosy game/life sim set in the world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. Developer Weta Workshop and publisher Private Division released a trailer earlier this year revealing that players would be able to live out all of their Hobbit dreams in the village of Bywater.
According to the game’s Steam page, players can create their own Hobbit and Hobbit hole home, fishing, foraging, gardening and cooking to their heart’s content. All the while bonding with their fellow Hobbits including some “familiar Hobbit families”.
The game was originally set for release in late 2024 on console and PC, however on 12th September developers announced via the game’s social media that the game’s release would be delayed. Tales of the Shire will now be released in early 2025. Weta Workshop advised the delay was to ensure they were delivering their intended vision.
The studio also announced that it would share the new release date along with further details with a showcase on the 22nd of September known as ‘Hobbit Day’. Hobbit Day is an important date in the Lord of the Rings fandom as it commemorates both Bilbo and Frodo’s birthdays which both fall on the 22nd of September. The showcase will be available to stream on YouTube, Twitch, X and TikTok.
