A trailer for Max original series ‘Pretty Little Liars: Summer School’ has been released, pleasing eagerly awaiting fans.

Pretty Little Liars: Summer School is the second season of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin which originally aired in 2022. A spin-off from the original mystery teen drama Pretty Little Liars (2010-2017), Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin kept the main plotline of uncovering who is the menacing ‘A’ but added a new group of teenage liars, and a new motivation for A’s mysterious torments.

Preceded by Ravenswood (2013) and Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists (2019), this is not the first Little Liars spin-off, however it is the first to get renewed for a second season. With a subtle change, Pretty Little Liars: Summer School now focuses on its five main characters; Imogen (Bailee Madison), Tabby (Chandler Kinney), Faran (Zaria), Mouse (Malia Pyles), and Noa (Maia Reficco), catching up on their education after a pretty horrible school year.

The trailer begins with an endearing nod to the original series, as Annabel Gish reprises her role of counsellor Dr Anne Sullivan. However, Sullivan’s opening promise to the liars that A “cannot hurt” them lacks reassurance when accompanied by a shot of Tabby tiptoeing into a shadowy basement, and eerie music reaching a crescendo before a sudden cut to black.

In the new trailer, a fresh villain is teased: Bloody Rose. Masked and knife-wielding, Bloody Rose’s character design is indebted to classic slasher films such as Halloween (1978) and Scream (1996), reflecting the more macabre tone of this spin-off. The liars will have the task of uncovering who this new villain is alongside normal teenage dramas of romance, friendship, and summer jobs as Pretty Little Liars: Summer School mixes horror with the teen rom-com.

Alongside a returning main cast, Pretty Little Liars: Summer School looks set to introduce some new faces into the franchise, including Antonio Cipriano, Loretta Ables Sayre, and Ava Capri. As well as this, Ash Romero will have a more prominent role as actor Jordan Gonzalez has been promoted from recurring cast member to series regular.

The first two episodes of Pretty Little Liars: Summer School will be available to stream on Max from May 9th followed by weekly installments until June 20th
