Sabrina Carpenter’s newest single is already proving to be a popular go-to song for the summer, and it’s no mystery why.

The chorus is a testament to Sabrina’s trademark wit, with the line “Say you can’t sleep, baby, I know / That’s that me, espresso” demonstrating her confident, playful style. The infectious synth groove, coupled with the escalated drum build-up leading into the chorus, transforms the song into an addictive listen. The track is so catchy and upbeat that it’s easy to miss the many clever lines scattered throughout.

In an interview with Vogue, Carpenter shared: “The song is kind of about seeing femininity as your super power, and embracing the confidence of being that bitch.” Her charisma shines through every line, from the quippy “I know I Mountain Dew it for ya” to the tongue-in-cheek “My honeybee, come and get this pollen”, as she sings about her allure and power over admirers.

‘Espresso’ perfectly showcases everything that appeals about Sabrina Carpenter’s discography: witty, clever lyrics, a lively, captivating beat, and energetic, impressive vocals. Earning Carpenter her first top 10 hit on the global Spotify chart, the song reaffirms Sabrina’s status as a pop icon.

The single is an instant smash-hit, proving once again that Sabrina Carpenter is the queen of catchy, energetic pop you can’t stop listening to.

Already stuck on repeat on my Spotify, this song has me eagerly anticipating Carpenter’s next album. Here’s hoping it comes soon!
