Rocksteady Studios’ Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been pulled offline after just one hour of activity of the Deluxe Edition’s early access due to a bizarre glitch that automatically completes the game.
The Deluxe Edition, costing an extra £30 from the £69.99 price tag, enabled players to access the game early before its full release on 2 February.
Rocksteady issued a statement on X stating that they will be performing maintenance on the game servers and take several hours to update once the issue has been dealt with. The developers have yet to mention if they will be issuing refunds to customers who bought the Deluxe Edition.
In a follow-up post, Rocksteady said that they have identified the issue and is hoping “to implement it and have the game back online as soon as possible.”
Set in the Batman Arkham universe, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League gameplay involves “embarking on a mission through Metropolis to save Earth and take down the world’s greatest DC Super Heroes, the Justice League,” according to its official description. Players can choose from their favourite Suicide Squad members such as Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang or King Shark to undertake this mission.
The third-person action-shooter game has already stirred a few feathers online due to the games leaked narrative being somewhat controversial. The reasoning for this is that the glitch may hold canon implications for future games in the Arkham series due to the shared universe.
While some fans support the developers’ visions, others don’t feel the same way.
Rocksteady stated on X that they are disappointed about all the game leaks and urges audiences to try to avoid any spoilers where possible.
The game will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S as well as on Steam. The Epic Games Store version will be released on 5 March.
