A trailer has been released for the upcoming second season of the horror-comedy series Shining Vale.
Starring Courtney Cox as protagonist Patricia, Greg Kinnear as her husband Terry, and Mira Sorvino as the demon of the house, Shining Vale follows the dysfunctional Phelps family after they move into a mansion in Connecticut. However, once the Phelps arrive, they discover the house may be haunted, and supernatural occurrences begin to plague the household.
The first season ended with Patricia being committed to a psychiatric hospital, after she was possessed by the house’s demon and attempted to kill her family with an axe. Once she is committed, Patricia sees an old photo of a nurse who looks exactly like the demon who possessed her, setting up the series perfectly for a second season.
The trailer shows Patricia returning to the house, stating, “I’m rehabilitated. I’ve learned my lesson. I am no longer a danger to society.” She prepares to explain away her axe-wielding tendencies as a “nervous breakdown” for a TV interview and attempts to mend the pieces of her shattered family.
However, Patricia quickly discovers her kids don’t seem to need her anymore, and her husband Terry (Greg Kinnear) doesn’t remember her. The trailer suggests that this season will focus on Patricia trying to move past the events of the first season, but it seems the house has other plans.
Season two looks to be full of new and deadly supernatural threats, with season one’s demon, Rosemary (Mira Sorvino), returning to haunt the house with a vengeance.
Created by Jeff Astrof and Sharon Horgan, the second season will also feature guest appearances from Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks), Judith Light (Who’s The Boss), and Allison Tolman (Fargo).
The new season will premiere on 13 October on Starz.
