Track Review: She // Weekend Wars

Local St Helens band Weekend Wars, released their debut single ‘She’ on 9th January, and it makes an unapologetic statement of intent.

‘She’, a highly anticipated single, is an indie rock dream, with a strong guitar and drum melody throughout the track and vocals reminiscent of John McClure of Reverend and the Makers.  The speed of the lyrics combined with the speed of guitar, builds to a frantic pace during the chorus as if in an attempt to convince others of a fact that “she wouldn’t believe it.”

The melody has a strong hook and pulses through the song, with the constant drum beat holding as the back-bone of the track and allowing the guitar riffs to roll throughout.

This track is a great debut single and leaves the listener wanting more, and listening to this song on repeat for a while. Weekend Wars are a band to keep your eye on.
