Olivier award-nominated musical Sister Act is returning to The Dominion Theatre in spring 2024.

From 15 March to 8 June, Beverley Knight who will be taking the lead role of Deloris Van Cartier. The soulful singer and stage star previously played the role during the show’s initial run in 2022, and now she’s back to bring her infectious energy and incredible voice to the role once again.

But when Beverley finishes her run, the show must go on, and that’s where Alexandra Burke comes in. The former X Factor winner and chart-topping artist will take over the role from 10 June to 31 August, bringing her own unique style and flair to the character of Deloris.

Sister Act is a musical comedy based on the hit 1992 film of the same name. When Deloris Van Cartier, a lounge singer, witnesses a murder, she’s placed in a convent for witness protection. Deloris initially struggles to adapt to life in the convent but soon realizes the nuns’ untapped potential. She takes charge of the choir and transforms their dull and outdated hymns into upbeat and soulful gospel music. Deloris also inspires the nuns to come out of their shells and embrace their individuality. The heartwarming story celebrates the power of music and the importance of finding common ground and unity despite our differences.

The musical features choreography by Alistair David, set and costume design by Morgan Large, and musical direction by Neil MacDonald. The music is by Alan Menken, with lyrics by Glenn Slater.

Sister Act runs from 15 March to 31 August 2024 at The Dominion Theatre.
