There’s been some strange Easter eggs popping up throughout the years, from the ‘Marmite Yeaster Egg’ to the ‘Flat-pack Ikea Easter Bunny’. But, Morrisons has really taken the biscuit (or cracker) this year with its new cheese Easter eggs.
Morrisons announced that from Wednesday 29/3/2023, customers will be able to buy their own cheese Easter eggs for five pounds from stores and online. One of the options is ‘Lancashire & Cheddar’ which the supermarket says will be “soft and creamy”, while the ‘Stratford Blue’ will have more of a “tangy flavour”. Both of these eggs are handcrafted in Lancashire using top quality British cheese.
Andrew Thomas (Morrisons’ cheese buying manager), said: “We’re continuously looking for ways to make Easter moments fun and exciting for our customers and we’re thrilled to unveil a real unique twist on a true classic.”
These Easter eggs would make a great edition as a center piece for an Easter themed cheese board, or as a gift for those who dislike chocolate. They would pair nicely with crackers, chutney and red wines. Morrisons also have lots of recipes on their website where customers could incorporate the cheese eggs.
But don’t worry if you’re more chalk (or in this case chocolate) than cheese, as Morrisons have brought back old favourites and new flavours to try. They have some beautiful looking eggs in their ‘The Best’ premium Easter egg range including the white & blonde chocolate, milk chocolate & orange and dark chocolate with raspberry Easter eggs. Morrisons have even brought out a vegan chocolate egg that contains honey flavouring, sea salt and is dipped in honeycomb pieces.
Looks like no one will be missing out this Easter.
