Last year, a brand-new show took the UK by storm. It may have lacked a huge media push behind it, but it didn’t take long for The Traitors to captivate an audience of millions. Claudia Winkleman, who boasts everyone’s favourite hairstyle, came into her own as the host and the BBC has confirmed she will be back on screens again this year.

The success of the show was evident with the USA adopting their own version of it. The UK version, shot in a very picturesque location just north of Inverness, concluded before Christmas and a second season has already been announced, owing to the cult following it has quickly acquired.

In season one, it seemed that Wilf was set to win a mouth-watering sum as the only remaining Traitor, only for Faithfuls Hannah and Aaron to cast doubt upon him at the eleventh hour. As a result, it was Hannah and Aaron, alongside Meryl, who took home the combined figure of £101,050.

Casting will soon begin for the second season and as social media will tell you, anyone can apply! On the BBC Press Office’s Twitter, Claudia sent out the message for the next crop of contestants and she asked all the important questions: “Can you spot a liar? Could you betray those around you? How would you fare at the round table?” 22 people will feature and you could be one of them.

Not only was the general concept of deceit something that drew people in, but all the fun Wilf and Co. had doing various tasks in front of fantastic backdrops, too. Season one began in late November before drawing to a close on the 22nd of December with three episodes airing every week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Now that millions of people have seen the show, the style and structure will come as less of a surprise to viewers and participants alike, which could make for some small tweaks from the BBC team.

No dates for season two have been revealed yet but given that it of course hasn’t started shooting yet, one would assume it will follow a similar timeline to its predecessor.
