American Express card members are now able to stream Suzie Miller’s award-winning production of Prima Facie starring Emmy and BAFTA award-winning actress Jodie Comer.
The National Theatre has partnered with the company so that members can enjoy a complimentary rental of the production, which was originally performed at the Harold Pinter Theatre earlier this year.
The captured performance was exclusively made available to watch on Tuesday 6 December on the National Theatre’s online streaming platform, National Theatre at Home.
Directed by Justin Martin, this one-woman play centres on a young woman named Tessa who transcended her working class origins to become an accomplished barrister. She specialises in defending men against allegations of rape, lighting up the shadows of doubt in every case. However, her perspective of the legal system is drastically altered after she is sexually assaulted by a colleague. As her world is turned upside down, she is forced to confront the boundaries between law and morality as well as the ingrained patriarchal power of the law.
The production also included set and costume design by Miriam Buether, lighting design by Natasha Chivers and sound design by Max and Ben Ringham.
Prima Facie is also set to make its Broadway debut in spring 2023, with opening night set for 23 April.
