The Hope Theatre has announced the cast for their forthcoming production of The Moors by award-winning playwright Jen Silverman (Collective Rage, Phoebe in Winter, Still).
Imogen Mackenzie (RADA) will play the role of Agatha, Meredith Lewis (Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama) will play Emilie, and Kenia Fenton (Birmingham Conservatoire) will play Huldey. Tamara Fairbairn (Fourth Monkey) will play Marjory, Peter Hadfield (Drama Studio London) will portray the Mastiff, and Matilda Childs (London College of Music) will play the role of the Moor-Hen.
All six cast members have graduated from drama school training since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Artistic Director of the Hope Theatre Phil Bartlett commented regarding the cast: “We met so many wonderful performers during the auditions this summer that we could feasibly have cast the production three times over!”
“I’m so delighted with the exceptionally talented actors we’ve found, and can’t wait to share Jen Silverman’s delightfully dark story with audiences this October.”
Jen Silverman’s The Moors is inspired by the letters of seminal 19th-century author Charlotte Brontë. The production is a Gothic tale of isolation, ambition, and the struggle to be seen, whilst simultaneously a queer thriller and macabre comedy.
Part of The Hope Theatre’s autumn season, this is the first professional production of The Moors in the UK and will be directed by the theatre’s artistic director, Phil Bartlett.
The Moors runs from Tuesday 11 October to Saturday 5 November at The Hope Theatre in Islington, London.
