Racing Glaciers’ latest single is a grandiose rock song with heavy undertones; a change to some of their previous output, showing a band that is versatile and exciting. The North-west five-piece has steadily built up a roster of musically impressive and anthemic indie-rock tracks over the last couple of years which definitely places them on the bands to watch list. Earlier songs are more hushed, emotional and slower paced, but none the less fantastic tunes.
‘Seems Like a Good Time’ presents a pretty stark contrast to this with a blistering, heavy intro which rumbles into sparse, eerie vocals, provided by frontman Tim, making this very reminiscent of a lot of Wolf Alice’s songs. The verses are perhaps more, the quiet amidst the storm, the chorus an epic guitar led release.
This slightly different musical direction could be seen as bold and confident move for a band not really out of the early stages of their career but it definitely pays off as they show that on top of what they’ve already accomplished they are capable of a wider range of rock music.
They are currently over half way through a huge tour of the UK so if there’s a date near you, check them out!
