Paramount+ have released a new trailer for the second season of their iCarly revival, as well as letting fans know when to expect the new episodes.

Premiering on the 8th April, the second season will contain 10 new episodes and will stream exclusively on Paramount+. The show functions as a continuation of the Nickelodeon show iCarly, which ran from 2007-2012. The first season of the revival centred on Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove) restarting her webshow following the breakdown of a long-term relationship. Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress returned to reprise their original roles as Spencer Shay and Freddie Benson, with Laci Moseley and Jaidynn Triplett joining the main cast as two new characters. All five of this ensemble return for Season 2.

Also joining Season 2 is Cosgrove’s old Drake and Josh co-star Josh Peck, as well as guest appearances from a number of familiar faces from the original series. This includes Jeremy Rowley as Lewbert, Ethan Munck as Guppy, and Ryan Ochoa as Chuck. The new trailer teases each of their appearances, as well as showing the return of the quirky humour and commentary on internet culture that were so prevalent in the original show. The trailer also hints at a resolution for last season’s love triangle drama, as well as a fake dating storyline for Carly and Freddie.

The first season of the revival was met with positive reviews from critics, who particularly praised its ability to retain the original show’s tone, whilst having grown up with its characters and audience. Variety said of the show that “it feels like catching up with a childhood friend.” This positive reception follows in the vein of the Nickelodeon original, which received seven Emmy Nominations over the course of its run, with five of those being for ‘Outstanding Children’s Programme.’

While its exclusive Paramount+ airing means that it isn’t available in the UK for the moment, the streaming service is expected to launch in the here in mid 2022.
